Trojans – away

Result:

Trojans win toss, Knights bat first.

Knights – 209-9 *D. Wight 73

Trojans – 68-10 * P. Finlay 5-7

Knights win by 141 runs.

A great day for the Knights. Everything went right from the off.

On a difficult wicket and against some good bowling, Dave hit 73 and was backed up well with some handy knocks by Aaron, Lee, Pete and Barber.

After a lovely tea, the skipper and Sam ran trough the opposition batting line up. There was some great moments. The keeper, Barber, taking a stunning one handed catch to his left, Sam ran 50 yards to take a catch and Nathan didn’t move a muscle, just stuck out his right arm to hold onto a drive smashed near him. Pete got his 5 for, Sam got 4 and Jason cleaned up with the last wicket.

Everyone played their part, Jon Cook played well in what was his first game (of many we hope), in a fantastic start to the season for the Knights.

Roll on next week!

Trojans – away

The team for this weekend is as follows:

Pete Finlay (C)

Lee Payne (VC)

Christopher Barber (WK)

Aaron Williams

Dave Wright

Denis Payne

We will be playing Trojans at the university of Southampton playing fields at wide lane (SO505PE)

Can we please meet at St Francis school at 13:00 ready to leave at 13:15 to be at the ground for 13:30.

For those of you not playing, feel free to pop down and say hello at any point in the game if you are at a loss for things to do. Team spirit will be vital throughout this long season.

Stay tuned for a pre game speech on Friday.

Pete

Hythe and Dibden – away friendly

Saturday’s team against Hythe and Dibden was:

Pete – C

Lee

Barber – Wk

Steve

Denis

Sam

Ajit

Nathan

Jon

Chaz

Jason

Hythe and Dibden scored 248-9

Knights Valley scored 154-10

All in all a tough match, against better opposition. It was good to get a game under our belts in readiness for next weeks League opener against Trojans.

Highlights were Chaz W first appearance (and indeed first ever cricket match) for us.

Petes first match as full time Skipper.

Good bowling performances by Ajit and Denis

Good keeping from Barbs

Excellent catching from Sam and Steve

Top Knock from Lee

Well batted Nathan and Jason

And we all got 40 overs under our belts in the field.
Hurry up Saturday!

Nets reminder!!

Afternoon gents,
Just a reminder that nets begin next Monday, the 4th, at 9pm at Thornden school.

Next week will be quite relaxed and just an opportunity for people to have a bat and a bowl while reuniting the team.
After that there will be a batting and bowling focus for each net but next week will be a gentle reintroduction to cricket.
I hope to see as many of you there as possible,
Pete
